The Girl Who Owned a City

The Girl Who Owned A City was originally a novel written by O. T. Nelson in 1975 and was later adapted into a graphic novel by Dan Jolley and published by Graphic Universe. While O. T. Nelson never went on to write another book, Jolley had worked on DC Comics' Firestorm and Graphic Universe's Twisted Journeys. The artist-- Joelle Jones-- is also known for Lady Killer. A strange disease has swept through the country, killing everyone over the age of 12 within a month. The protagonist, Lisa Nelson, is the first one on her block to think of using her father's car to raid a farm for supplies. Children of the Sea v.1-v.5

Children of the Sea, or Kaiju no Kodomo in Japanese, is a 2007 five volume series written and illustrated by Daisuke Igarashi, author and artist of Witches (2004 Excellence Prize), Little Forest (2005 Ozamu Tezuka Culture Award nominee), and Saru (Manga Taisho nominee). This series is a seinen adventure manga originally published by Shogakukan and published in English by Viz Media. For those who don't know, seinen is a manga style aimed at "young men" ranging from ages 20 to 50.
