I feel like I've been run over by a semi. How I managed to read as much as I did this month is beyond me and I doubt I'll ever be able to do it again. In the month of April, I managed to read 15 books, DNF'ing only two.
This month I read;
This past month, I also encountered a situation where someone much older than me, asked if I believed young adult fantasy books were a waste of time because they "are an escape so kids don't ever learn to deal with the real world." I know my opinion-- I'm in agreement with G.K. Chesterton's quote "Fairy tales don't tell children that dragons exist. They tell them that dragons can be beaten"-- but I'm curious what you think. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. And if any of you would like a full on argumentative essay on the value of YA fantasy, let me know; it's something I've been considering.
In May, I have a lot of ARCs that I need to get to so I've decided to try to focus on a few that I know for sure I want to read and then worry about getting to the others from there. To start out this list, I'm going to give you the books I want to for sure finish and then I'll mention the others that I'll try to get to. As always, some are for the POPSUGAR challege while others have just been on my TBR for a while now.
